Art Rise Collective

Are you an artist or creative seeking a community that inspires deep reflection and collaboration? Join us in this transformative experience!

The Art Rise Collective is a brand new initiative from posAbilities that invites creatives with and without disabilities to gather bi-weekly to address a specific “big picture” question. Focusing on themes of human flourishing, beauty, and spirituality, this collective creates a space for participants to reflect, discuss, and forge closer ties within the community.

For it’s first ever iteration, the group will explore the theme of Existential Explorations, embarking on a journey into fundamental questions of existence, purpose, and life after death.

From January to April 2025, we will embark on a journey that examines the essence of our existence. Why do we exist? What is our purpose? What happens after we leave this world? Through various artistic mediums and discussions, each member will explore their own interpretations while contributing to a shared understanding of the theme.

What We Offer

The Art Rise Collective is designed to foster creativity and connection through:

Dedicated Time and Space: Join bi-weekly for in-person sessions at Alternatives, where we will make together in a supportive environment tailored for art-making. Alternate weeks will serve as open studios for drop-in art making if needed.

Tools, Resources, and Material Costs: The group will be allocated a material budget that they can choose how to spend collaboratively. We will provide the essentials so you can focus on your creative process.

Collaborative Work Environment: Each week will have a one word prompt that is open ended, and will be followed time to make and share. This is a chance to engage with fellow artists, share ideas and techniques as we delve into an overarching theme.

Inclusive and Accessible Practices: While group members will have agency to decide the trajectory of the collective and projects undertaken, we will provide mentorship and guidance to ensure everyone feels welcome and supported.

To keep the space accessible to all, we will offer an online option that will be supported by our friends at Curiko.

Showcase Opportunities: The collective will work towards a group show that will be held at Alternatives Gallery and Studio in May 2025. This is your chance to present your work and expand your artistic network!

What We Ask of You

To ensure a rich and meaningful experience, participants are encouraged to:

Reflect Deeply: Engage with the big picture questions surrounding our theme.

Participate Actively: Take part in art-making and group discussions to deepen your understanding.

Share Generously: Collaborate with fellow members to contribute to the collective vision.
