Portrait & Community Printmaking Workshop
We recently wrapped up our printmaking workshop, and it was a wonderful event focused on art and storytelling, with the goal of connecting more intentionally with our neighbours and the people who use the space in and around Alternative Creations Studio. Participants gathered to connect, share, and create, bringing their personal stories to life in a way that highlights the neighbourhood.
Event Highlights:
Connecting: Attendees paired up to paint portraits of each other on plexiglass, engaging in conversations that revealed their experiences and connections to our community. It was great to see new friendships forming through the creative process.
Making: Participants also made prints of their portraits and local places that hold significance for them. Each piece captured unique perspectives and memories, reflecting the diversity of our community.
Experimenting: Folks also just had fun playing with the new medium, exploring monoprinting by making marks with different kinds of tools and objects, resulting in some truly unexpected outcomes.
It was rewarding to see everyone’s contributions come together in a meaningful way. Thank you to everyone who joined us with their creativity and curiosity! The positive energy made the workshop a success.
