In 2019, this Community Projects course at Emily Carr University was led by Fadwa Bouziane and Aaniya Asrani and it explored the methodologies of creating socially engaged work within a community partnership with posAbilities. For the purposes of this course students engaged with people from various walks of life, to uncover untold narratives, specifically in the context of self-care and caring for others.

The class worked in tandem with concepts of ‘radical care’ and ‘creative resistance’ with the ultimate goal to have a positive impact and facilitate empathy. Students self-selected into groups based on the senses of Sight, Sound, Touch, and Taste, and engaged with people served by posAbilities to co-create moments of expression and inclusion through workshops, interactive works, performances and other self directed initiatives.
