The Social Media Fellowship program at posAbilities equips Fellows with the tools, knowledge, and hands-on experience to pursue their social media goals.

The course explores topics on online safety, self-exploration, content creation, and content production. As part of the course, the Fellows practice posting content and building inclusive online communities through their personal accounts and a joint Instagram account (@social.media.fellows).

On the 28th of July 2024, the Social Media Fellowship celebrated the end of the summer residency, as part of Create! Eastside Arts Festival by hosting a free event at Alternatives Creations Studio that showcased a diverse array of local talents and performers.

There were funky tunes, raving performing and vibes with strangers. The evening kicked off with singer-songwriter Dani Black, who delighted the crowd with her playful covers and original songs. Next, the electronic pop duo Grant Money played the group their enchanting originals and quirky covers. The night ended with DJ R-Hood (One of the social media fellows) inviting the crowd to dance to her debut DJ set!

MC Deepti was a fabulous host, who introduced a fun twist to the evening. Guests were handed colourful wristbands at the door, each with an icebreaker question printed on it. In the interval between acts, everyone was invited to start a conversation with a stranger to ask and respond to one of their questions.

The event was a big success, with guests connecting in unique ways and the Fellowship hopes to make Fellow Fest a yearly tradition!
